Illustration
I love to illustrate, and seize any opportunity to develop my skills both at work and in my personal time. Standout projects include an illustrated campaign for the City of Redmond’s Make Music Day and several holiday card designs for Synopsys.
I recently discovered Risograph printing, a technique that is commonly described as ‘digital screen printing’. Artwork is designed on separate color layers, then printed on a Risograph machine, layer-upon-layer, to produce a multi-colored print. The process lends a slightly-imperfect charm and vintage effect to digital designs.
I have cultivated a personal Risoprint design practice and continue to learn how to make the most of this unique technology.

One of my most memorable illustration projects was for the City of Redmond Arts and Culture team. When it was decided to move all arts programs to a facility previously used for event rentals, the City sought to bring some artistic flare and character to the repurposed space. I illustrated a 10.5’ x 5’ laser-cut decal that was affixed to the building’s glass according door-wall. The design features a heron, a native bird that is featured in the City’s logo, and flourishes. It also incorporates the Parks and Recreation Department’s brand fonts and principle teal blue color.
